Mutant Circuits

Five (Earth-616) from Immortal X-Men Vol 1 1 001

Mutant Circuits are defined by Professor X and Magneto as using the powers and abilities of two or more mutants in unison.[1] Also considered to be a part of a new age of Mutant Technology, in the Krakoan Era.[2]

A Mutant Circuit in X-Men Vol 1 65

Mutant Circuits have existed in history from some of the earliest examples being the Fastball Special. As Colossus used his superhuman strength to propel Wolverine through the air, to give his Adamantium claws more brute force behind his slices, or to reach great distances to attack faster.[3]

Mutants using teamwork to achieve certain goals have become more popular since then, more so since the establishment of the nation of Krakoa. Although many mutants have embraced this form of Mutant Technology, others such as those who hail from Arakko or even Amenth, oppose the use of Mutant Circuits due to them considering it an insult to not accomplish their own goals by themselves.

Some self contained Mutant Circuits have occurred with mutants who have mimicked or absorbed multiple mutant powers at once, and combined those awesome powers, such as Calvin Rankin, Rogue, and Hope Summers.[4] Others included artificially created mutants housing multiple powers from other mutants (see Chimeras for more examples of self contained Mutant Circuits).

Notes

  • Some Mutant Circuits require a mutant with the power to unify or enhance the whole circuit to achieve certain effects, such as Fabian Cortez or Khora with their use in the Six.
    • Even some such as Forge and Wiz Kid are able to manipulate circuits as they are still just another form of technology.
  • Due to some mutants powers (such as Boost, Source, and Chance), they won't work without the help of other mutants, effectively needing to become a Mutant Circuit.
