A phobia is an extreme form of fear or anxiety triggered by a particular situation such as going outside or object, even when there is no danger.

Spiders (Arachnophobia)

  • Titania had a fear of Spider-Man, following her defeat in Secret Wars.[1]
  • Doctor Octopus also developed a fear of the web-head after he beat him within an inch of his life for nearly killing the Black Cat. It took Spidey taking a dive to stop him from making a nuclear reactor go critical for him to be cured.[2]
  • Armory has a crippling fear of spiders.[3]

Chickens (Alektorophobia)

  • Domino's greatest fear; turns out its chickens, which Deadpool found hilarious. When Domino and Wolverine were tracking Deadpool down, they had to go through an air vent occupied by a chicken which left her petrified with fear. However, it was later revealed Deadpool was scared of them as well.[4]

Cows (Bovinophobia)

  • Deadpool has bovinophobia, which is the fear of cows. According to him, cows "scare the *#$% outta" him, as he believes their stare to be chilling, like they're "waiting."[4]

Clowns (Coulrophobia)

  • Deadpool is scared of clowns, and he considers them the greatest threat to Earth, after Galactus.[5]

Flying (Aviophobia)

  • Wolf of Team America has a fear of flying, he can be kept conscious for a flight, although his powerful terrified death grip is hard on the seats.[citation needed]

Fire (Pyrophobia)

  • Captain Ultra would faint when seeing a flame, even in a lighter. With extensive therapy he partially overcame this phobia.[6]

Water (Aquaphobia)

  • Difference Engine, was afraid of water, due to him being a walking electrical appliance with primitive insulation.[7]

Tight Spaces (Claustrophobia)

  • Storm of the X-Men, is severely claustrophobic, the result of having been trapped under rubble after a botched aircraft attack that killed her parents.[8]
  • Cloud Nine of the Initiative doesn't like tight spaces. During the Fear, she was stuck under a pile of rubble, and proceeded to freak out.[9]

Needles (Trypanophobia)

  • According to his father, Connor Young has trypanophobia, the fear of needles.[10]

Corpses (Necrophobia)

  • Klara Prast of the Runaways has a fear of corpses, stemming from the time she was trapped in a sweatshop fire that killed most of the workers. It's so severe that she once freaked out after Molly fainted during a battle, because she didn't know that that was part of Molly's powers and thought that she'd been killed. She also did not react well when she got stuck under Old Lace's corpse during an explosion.[11]

Skrullovoria Induced Skrullophobia

  • The Skrull Kill Krew were regular people until they consumed meat from the Skrull Cows, whose DNA code went into the human's cells, resulting in a bizarre condition called Skrullovoria Induced Skrullophobia, in which these individuals not only gained shape-shifting powers equal to, or greater than, actual Skrulls, but also developed an intense fear or hatred of Skrulls.[12]


  • Dementoid developed a fear of buttocks and anuses after Venom turned his rear end into a set of jaws and nearly ate him in reverse.[13]


Trauma possess the power to assume the forms of people's most feared thing, sometimes revealing phobias.
