History

 All those super-criminals you've destroyed lately... Who do you think their minions came running to after they fell?!

As the Superior Spider-Man took down crimelords, the Green Goblin began taking in their minions. He offered Spider-Man the position of second-in-command and when he declined, Osborn began systematically destroying everything he cared about.

At the end of it all, Osborn kidnapped Anna Maria Marconi, Otto's girlfriend, and planned to have Otto fail to save her. Norman didn't anticipate the return of the original Spider-Man, nor that he'd rally the Avengers, S.H.I.E.L.D., Spider-Man 2099, and the Wraith against him.
