Notes
- "The Gods of Bal-Sagoth" was originally a Turlogh Dubh O'Brien and Cthulhu Mythos story (published in Weird Tales; October, 1931), freely adapted by Marvel Comics into a Conan story in Conan the Barbarian #17 and 18 (August and September, 1972), written by Roy Thomas and penciled by Gil Kane.
- In the course of the adaptation, many elements and details of the story were modified:
- The Gael reaver Turlogh Dubh O'Brien and the Saxon warrior Athelstane are respectively replaced by the Cimmerian Conan and the Vanirman Fafnir (fitting the genealogies of their races/peoples according to Robert E. Howard in his pseudo-historical essay "The Hyborian Age").
- A few names and titles were more or less modified: "Groth-Golka the bird-god" became "Groth-Golka, the last of the Lizard-Gods", the goddess "A-ala" became "Aala".
- The animated armor is named Vertorix, as a reference character created by Robert E. Howard in his story "People of the Dark" (Strange Tales; June, 1932). That story was freely adapted as well later, in Savage Sword of Conan #6 (June, 1975), written by Roy Thomas and penciled by Alex Nino, in which the character became Gaeric.
