Initially taking the superhero identity Greenwich Guardian, he expected to make a big splash, but was an underwhelming fizzle. Not bad, but nothing special. Resenting his mediocrity, he took on the identity of Black Death and came into opposition with Gravity.[1]
It is unknown how he changed his powers. Presumably he possessed all the following abilities and simply hid them from usage as a hero.
