History
Grogar was one of the Picts of the Borni tribe that served as guards to King Kull of Valusia, along with Kull's advisor Brule and fellow guard Monartho.
During Kull's stay in the pleasure city of Kamula, Grogar was ravished by Kamulaan cultists using a flipping wall. Monartho thrust his sword in the opening of the door, preventing it from closely completely. Brule went to fetch Kull, but when they returned, Monartho had been stabbed from within the wall. Grogar was taken to an unground vault where soon afterwards saved from the degenerate court of Baron Ergon reveled in worship to the worm-demon Zugthuu the Slitherer. Kull slaughtered the court, freed Zugthuu from his torment, and fled with Grogar and Brule.[1]Notes
- Grogar was created by Robert E. Howard in "Black Abyss"[2] (1967), a story completed by Lin Carter from an unfinished manuscript by Robert E. Howard[4] The story was adapted in "Beast from the Abyss" (Savage Sword of Conan #2; October, 1974) by Steve Englehart and Howard Chaykin.
