—Captain MarvelWe are the Guardians of the Galaxy! The greatest heroes of the 61st century!
History
The Guardians of the Galaxy were an intergalactic law enforcement organization in the 61st century, descended from the Heroic Age of Earth in the 21st century. Consisting of approximately 250,000 members who patrolled the entire cosmos, veteran Guardians included Starhawk, Yondu Udonta, Charlie-27, Nikki Gold, and Martinex T'Naga. Their most powerful members were Captain Universe, Starbrand, Molecule Boy, Giraud the Phoenix, and Infinity Gauntlet wielder Gary.[1]

The Guardians against Kang's army
When their present began to unravel due to the temporal machinations of the Maker of Earth-1610 in the 21st century, many of the Guardians aided the spacefaring civilizations of their time in an attempt to survive the rewriting of reality by piloting a Century-Ship containing the entirety of the time period and escaping into the informational space between universes, the Superflow. However, when confronted by Kang, a time conqueror, and his super-soldier army of clones, the Guardians split into an assault force and those powerful enough to attempt to maintain the cohesion of reality for long enough, but in vain.[1]
Captain Marvel, pilot of the Century-Ship, attempted to return to her rewritten time period but crashed, ending centillion lives and hurling several Guardians, including herself, across the timestream at the speed of light. She herself landed in the Stone Age, built a ship called the Apokatastasis from fragments of 61st Century debris, and reconnected across time with some of her fellow Guardians, Star-Lord, Ultimate Nullifier, and Cosmo Starstalker.[1] Another Guardian, America Chavez, would break through the Maker's time barrier and land in a much-altered 21st century without a Heroic Age, where she was found by the ultra-capitalist Midas and used as an energy source under the White House until she was rescued by the terrorist organization The Ultimates.[1][2]Paraphernalia

Trivia
- The Guardians of the Galaxy shares similarities to DC Comics' Legion of Super-Heroes as both group are a massive, galaxy-spanning organization from the far-future. Even some of its members are from the Imperial Guard, who are also deliberate analogs of the Legion. The Guardians' depiction is also a callback to writer Jim Valentino and Tom DeFalco's original proposal for Guardians of the Galaxy that depict the Guardians as a galactic organization from the 35th century who are similar to the Legion.
