Synopsis
Overview[]
In 1991, The Gulf War is waged in the Middle East, by a U.N.-authorized coalition force from thirty-four nations, led by the United States of America and United Kingdom, against Saddam Hussein's Iraqi forces.[1]
History[]
During the Gulf War, the Freedom Force entered Kuwait City to transfer German physicist Reinhold Kurtzmann from current Kuwaiti resistance safehouse to allied forces.[2]
In the Gulf War, Alex Ellis earned the Purple Heart for dragging his comrade Danny Dunson out of a war zone while his leg was severely wounded. Unfortunately, Danny did not survive the War.[3]
Legacy[]
Abner Dunson was the owner of the laboratory that created Annex. Dunson used the man who attempted to save his son's life in the Gulf War to reanimate his son. Through a complex series of technologies, Dunson attempted to write over the hero's personality/mind with a copy of his son's. Spider-Man helped Annex figure out what was happening to him and righted the wrong.[3]
Alternate Realities[]
Earth-1610[]
Nick Fury was assigned to S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Weapon X program in the Gulf War. While transporting Wolverine, an Iraqi guerrilla ambush freed Wolverine from his cage, whereupon Wolverine slaughtered all the Iraqi fighters. Only one member of the US forces survived the ambush: Nick Fury. It was in this ambush that Fury lost an eye and from then on would wear an eye patch. Carrying Fury through the desert back to allied forces, Wolverine was thanked for his work by being repeatedly shot, caged once more, and returned to the battlefront. Still, a bond was forged between the two men.[4]See Also
