History
Gwen Stacy is the daughter of Captain George Stacy and the former girlfriend of Eddie Brock. She was also a classmate of Peter Parker in Curt Connors' class, and did modeling in addition to her studies.
One day, while at a shoot, a construction crane went haywire and crashed into the building where the shoot was taking place. Gwen, thrown from the building, was rescued by Spider-Man, while Eddie and her father looked on. As thanks for saving her life, Gwen persuaded her father to give Spider-Man the key to the city.
Gwen MC'd the ceremony, and when Spider-Man appeared, the crowd chanted for her to give him an upside-down kiss. Caught up in their enthusiasm, Spider-Man encouraged her to do so despite his girlfriend Mary Jane (with whom he had once shared an identical kiss) being in the crowd. Gwen complied, angering Mary Jane. Later that night, while Peter invited Mary Jane on a dinner date with the intention of proposing, Gwen appeared at the restaurant and said hello to them, leading Mary Jane to believe Peter was trying to push her away.
Later on, Peter (under the influence of the Venom symbiote) asked Gwen out to the bar where Mary Jane worked in order to spite the latter. He even proceeded to do a big dance number with Gwen while Mary Jane watched. Although she initially enjoyed herself, Gwen soon realized Peter's actual intentions and dumped him, apologizing to Mary Jane before she left.
Gwen was last seen attending the funeral of Harry Osborn.[1]Notes
- Gwen Stacy is portrayed by Bryce Dallas Howard in Spider-Man 3.
- In the Spider Society’s records of the Multiverse, Gwen kissing Peter is shown as a canon event alongside the kiss between Peter and Mary Jane that happened in Earth-96283. This implies that a variant of Peter and Gwen from this universe ended up together.
