History
Harriet Homerstone is a witch, descended from a long line of witches, and the half-sister of literary editor Mona St. Croix.
When one of Mona's clients, the author Sam Wantling, had exhausted all conventional options for dealing with his vivid nightmares, she referred him to Harriet for help.[1] Initially believing Sam to be the victim of low-level possession, her initial probes into his mind revealed something enigmatic about his conception. Consulting the journal of her ancestor Alicia Harker, Harriet deduced that he was actually a creation of the Voyager, a strange cosmic creature. When she attempted to probe further, the Voyager itself manifested to attempt to claim Sam's soul. Harriet was only narrowly able to banish him, and realized she needed a more secure location to care for Sam[1]
Harriet correctly theorized that despite being a creation of the Voyager, Sam had developed a soul of his own.[2] Due to this, they were able to defeat the Voyager when he came to absorb Sam. Sam gave up the fraction of the Voyager within himself and was freed. He finished his novel and then met with Harriet to discuss his new powers.[3]Attributes
