History

Harrington Byrd was a US Senator who was skeptical of Tony Stark's accumulation of government contracts. When the Crimson Dynamo started destroying Stark plants, Byrd suspected Stark of destroying his own plants and being a communist spy.

He got him summoned to testify in front of congressional hearings on several occasions. In the end, even though he still disliked Stark's playboy antics, he grudgingly respected him.

Byrd also attended a United Nations meeting, where he, like many others, personally opposed the tyrannical General Chen and his rule of fear.
