Synopsis for "Shafted"
Hawkeye has left the Avengers to brood in the wilderness of the northern Rockies following the death of his wife. He stumbles upon a Secret Empire facility hidden in the mountains and recognizes his old mentor Trickshot as one of its agents out hunting some small lycanthropic creature. Knowing which side to oppose in the scenario, Hawkeye drives off Trickshot and his partner, a dart-armed woman called Javelynn, and saves the wounded creature, escaping with it to a nearby logging village. Back at the Secret Empire's base, Trickshot and Javelynn report back to their commander, Viper.
Notes
- The apparent death of Hawkeye's wife, Mockingbird occurred in Avengers: West Coast #100. Since then, Hawkeye remained with the Avengers long enough to participate in the Bloodties crossover, then left the team at some point off-panel between Avengers #369 and Avengers: West Coast #102.
