Headhunter was the principal executor of Executive Services, Inc., a company that lent funds to industrialists, expecting a percentage of the profits. The contracts contained restrictive clauses, most notably, that if the contractor failed to make a profit, Headhunter would decapitate him. Spider-Man clashed with Headhunter in an attempt to rescue Lee Camino's son, Danny, who had been kidnapped by ESI as per their contract, along with his death for not earning a profit -- a clause Camino hadn't taken seriously. Headhunter set traps in the ESI basement where he was holding Danny prisoner, but Spider-Man overcame the traps and knocked Headhunter out with a punch, revealing all the heads Headhunter had decapitated, stored in glass containers. Headhunter was arrested, while the ESI executives fled in a helicopter, dismissing the incident as a simple mishap.[1]
