History

Background[]

After Thanos killed her father, Heather Douglas was adopted and trained by the Eternals of Titan to one day avenge him. Using her refined skills, she seemed to best the cosmic entity known as the Dragon of the Moon, adopting the name Moondragon. In actuality, the Dragon of the Moon had survived and took refuge in Moondragon's mind, seeking to slowly corrupt her.[1] Despite this negative influence, she went on to become an ally of the Guardians of the Galaxy.[2]

Contest of Champions: Book 2[]

Seed of Doubt[]

Moondragon traveled to the Battlerealm to help after hearing it contained unfathomable power and danger. While traveling, her spaceship was attacked by Ronan the Accuser. In response, Douglas disabled both of their ships, leaving Ronan to send a distress signal that deceived the Guardians of the Galaxy and the Summoner into coming to his rescue. Despite this, the Summoner rescued Moondragon by neutralizing and stranding Ronan in space. Adam Warlock arrived not long after, responding late to Heather's telepathic call for his help.

Moondragon and Adam learned about the Galactus Seed that the Guardians of the Galaxy were hired to protect. Following interruptions by Hit-Monkey and the Black Order looking to claim Ronan's bounty on the Guardians, Adam Warlock concluded that the seed needed to be siezed from them. Star-Lord asserted his confidence in the Summoner as their ace in the hole, which Moondragon sought to put to the test in a spar. When the Summoner bested her, Adam Warlock resolved to destroy the Guardians' ship and recover the seed from the wreckage. Warlock began ejecting escape pods from their ship as an intimidation tactic, but this quickly backfired when Rocket Raccoon revealed that his own escape pod, which lacked any tracking devices, hid the Cosmic Seed. After Adam Warlock was overpowered by the Summoner, both he and Moondragon teamed up with the Guardians of the Galaxy to assist them in relocating the seed from the void of space.[2]
