History

In his youth, the brilliant sorcerer Heka-Nut was selected to act as the intermediary between the four primal gods of the Ogdoad: Atum (also known as "Amun" to the Ogdoad), who ruled the air and the invisible; Nun/Nu of the primordial waters; Hauhet, whose influence was space and visible matter; and Keku, whose domain was darkness and chaos.[1] Heka-Nut served the Ogdoad faithfully for a thousand years until Keku tempted the sorcerer and corrupted him.[1]

Following his corruption by Keku, Heka-Nut searched for the legendary Sword of Bone for 500 years until he located it in Egypt's Valley of the Kings.[1] For centuries thereafter, he unsuccessfully attempted to circumvent the many traps and spells that protected the Sword of Bone.[1]

In the 11th century B.C., Heka-Nut captured Ashake and a time-displaced Magik and forced them to recover the Sword of Bone for him in exchange for their freedom. He betrayed them, but was unable to wield the Sword of Bone because only the pure of soul can call upon its power. He was struck down by Magik's Soulsword and left an empty vessel while Ashake trapped his dark power in an Egyptian urn and hid it away along with the Sword of Bone in its ancient resting place.[1]
