History
As he became mad with power, betraying his X-Force colleagues and the nation of Krakoa he'd sworn to protect, Beast grew several clones of himself to aid him in his research.[1]

Before awakening
These Beasts were believed to have all been destroyed in a battle with Wolverine;[2] however, X-Force leader Sage secretly kept one of the clones in stasis. After Beast mounted an attack on X-Force and in light of Beast's years of crimes and atrocities in the name of the greater good, X-Force elected that the only way to stop Beast was with a Beast of their own. They would thus upload Hank McCoy's lone Cerebro backup, dating from many years prior, to the clone. Disoriented and frightened, this new Beast would be placed in a cell under the watch of Black Tom Cassidy, but would quickly escape after his jailor fell asleep. Becoming extremely distressed after learning of the atrocities the "real" Hank McCoy had committed, the clone would leave the X-Force compound and wander out into the world.[3]
He met with his old friend Wonder Man and convinced him to go after the original Beast with him, hoping to remind him of his once noble goals. When the duo caught up with Beast underwater, off the coast of California, he removed Wonder Man's breathing apparatus to force him to go back to the surface and give him some time alone with his clone. He showed him his Black Hole Gun and explained his plan to send Arrako to a cosmic vault for safekeeping. However, the clone wasn't moved by his words and, when the weapon was deployed, they got into a fight. The original Beast tried to end his clone's life, but Wolverine's surprise appearance allowed the clone to free himself. Wolverine then attempted to kill Beast, but the clone was adamant no one should die and tackled Wolverine. Without losing more time, the original Beast escaped, but was shocked to find Wonder Man attempting to stop his weapon. As the gun was about to fire with Wonder Man in front of it, Beast made one final selfless act and sacrificed himself to save his friend's life.[4]
After this series of events, the clone Beast moved in with Wonder Man.[5] Before long, however, he joined Scott Summers and his new X-Men in Alaska.[6][7]Attributes
