History
The Heritage Initiative was an anti-mutant think tank[1] led by Lydia Nance.[2]
At some point, the Initiative transitioned into fieldwork and genetic research, with a focus on setting up an X-Gene harvesting program. Edwin Martynec joined the Initiative in a prominent role during this time. Their funding was dwindling until they were bought-out by Orchis.[3] With Orchis' backing, the Initiative was able to purchase legal rights to the X-Genes of all the native peoples living at Camp Gazhoo. Their nefarious attempts to collect their new purchases was stopped by a newly-resurrected Thunderbird and his grandmother Lozen.[3]
Partnering with the anti-mutant organization known as Orchis, they used their customized X-Genes to attack an innocent town to implicate mutantkind . This led the organization to shut down in order to not be held liable for the attack on Milford, New Hampshire, while Edwin Martynec was invited to join Orchis in their mission to end mutantkind.[4]See Also
