History

Hermann von Reitberger was an ace pilot for the German Luftstreitkräfte in World War I. One night while out on patrol, he discovered the grounded plane of the Phantom Eagle who was about to evacuate his parents from Germany. Von Reitberger shot and killed them all. Thereafter, he was haunted by Phantom Eagle's spirit and spent his life fleeing from being haunted. After meeting the Ghost Rider, von Reitberger challenged the Phantom Eagle to a final duel, during which he crashed his plane into a hangar and died.
