Herr Blutcher was a German citizen who was considered insane and placed in an asylum. With the outbreak of World War II, Blutcher became devoted to the Nazi cause. In the spring of 1943, he was released from the asylum and Hermann Göring suggested the use of Blutcher for Adolf Hitler's planned invasion of Britain. Hitler took this suggestion and met with Blutcher in private to make plans for the invasion.
Part of the plan involved using massive freezing coils to freeze the Channel in order to allow an army of Nazis on sail sleds to cross the water to the United Kingdom. Also, Blutcher set plans in motion to have the Human Torch and Toro eliminated after the publicly pledged themselves to come to Britain's aid should they be needed to defend her shores.
The spies sent to eliminate the two heroes failed, and they learned of Blutcher's plot. They then rushed to the UK where they aided the British military in destroying the freezing coils and capturing Herr Blutcher.[1]
Blutcher's subsequent fate following the war is unrecorded.
