History
Herr Von Richter was a member of the Nazis during World War II. So devoted to the Nazi regime, he took to fashioning his appearance to resemble that of Nazi leader Adolf Hitler. In the spring of 1943, he led a group of spies in New York City. They attempted to wreck the American economy by planting bombs in the city's largest banks. To this end, they purchased safety deposit boxes that would explode after they left, destroying the banks and killing staff and customers alike. The hope was to drive Americans to pull all their money out of the banks and avoid them.
After their fourth successful operation, their activities attracted the attention of the Human Torch and Toro who then staked out the Fifth National Bank, the next likely target. Sure enough, Von Richter and his men appeared at the bank and attempted to plant their bombs. The Torch, posing as a security guard, identified them by recognizing the hand writing on the application to match that of applications signed at the previous banks. As the Torch and Toro rounded up Von Richter's men, the Nazi spy attempted to flee the scene before his bomb went off.
The Human Torch freed the bomb and tossed it at Von Richter's get away car. The bomb then exploded, killing Von Richter in the process.[1]Trivia
