History

A ship from Themyscira had witnessed Poseidon destroy the Arabian Princess (amongst the passengers being Professor Malcolm, David Munroe, N'Dare Munroe, and their daughter Ororo Munroe), and went looking for survivors. Just when they were going to give-up, their queen sensed "a small life crying out to me!" She dived in and rescued Ororo. Ororo recovered, and Queen Hippolyta raised her as her own.

Years later Hippolyta believed that it was time to send a representative to the outside world. Because of her weather powers, Ororo won the contest hands down. Her sister, Diana was upset by this and left the island to fight evil in her own way. The queen gave Ororo her costume and called her Wonder Woman.
