History

Hiram Shaw was a preacher in late 16th century Salem (Massachusetts) who was also the Earth's Sorcerer Supreme. He fell under the influence of Chthon and began reading from Darkhold. Seeing the Witches of New Salem as competition for his power, Shaw set out to eliminate them by rallying the people of Salem against them in a series of witch trials. Between 1688 and 1692, Shaw succeeded in eliminating the local Salem coven, but was opposed by new arrivals from Transia: Sara and Lilith. In November of 1694, they finally were able to overcome Shaw, sealing him behind protective wards to eventually die of hunger.
