Horemheb was a general in Egypt during the 18th Dynasty.[3]

Horemheb murdered Akhenaten's 17-year-old son and successor Tutankhamun, Akhenaten's vizier Ay, in order to claim the throne.[2] He also restored the worship of the old gods of Egypt, eradicating the monotheistic worship of Aten and all traces of Akhenaten.[3]

Horemheb's spirit was later retrieved, imprisoned and eventually destroyed by Akhenaten as retribution for his actions, despite Horemheb's plea for mercy.[2]
