History
Howard Stark was performing research on the X-O Manowar Armor pod for S.H.I.E.L.D. when his son Tony became curious about his father's work. Howard took Tony to see the pod and while showing him the pod it hatched and bonded to Tony, the force of which seemingly killed Howard (as noted by the adult Tony that it took his family). [1]
