History
The Howling Commandos was an Allied military unit formed in combat during World War II, mostly by the liberated POWs of the US 107th Infantry Regiment. They and the other prisoners of war were held captive by Hydra but were liberated by SSR's Captain Carter with the help of Steve Rogers wearing the Hydra Stomper Armor. Rogers' friend Bucky Barnes and the others formed a unit that assisted in SSR operations throughout the war.[1]
Near the end of the war, Captain Carter, Hydra Stomper and the Howling Commandos went on a mission to capture Hydra leader Johann Schmidt. However, they were lured into a trap and Rogers along with Hydra Stomper Armor were presumed lost. Grieving, Carter interrogated Doctor Zola about Schmidt's base at Castle de Krake and led the Howling Commandos on a final decisive strike against Hydra. Rogers was found alive and captured, but Schmidt had obtained the Tesseract and used it to summon an interdimensional monster which began destroyed the castle. Rogers used the re-powered Hydra Stomper Armor to get the Howling Commandos out of the collapsing structure while Captain Carter sacrificed herself to push the monster back inside the portal.[1]See Also
