Nick Fury gathered these monsters under the Howling Commandos unit to train to better control their powers and abilities to become better heroes that would someday be accepted by the world. Eventually, the half vampire, Blade, realized Fury's manipulative, untrustworthy nature and left the team to continue his vampire-hunting career alone.
