History

Magik was among the heroes lost in the two wars against a massive threat that left the Earth scorched and becoming uninhabitable in process. By the year 2052 A.D., Magik had been captured and subjugated by Ove, the ruler of the haven named New Atlantis located in the ruins of New York City.[1] When Ove set out to travel to the past to rule unhindered from the dystopian circumstances, he and his mother the Enchantress intended to force Magik to cast the necessary spell to send him back in time. In an attempt to stall the mother and son duo, Magik claimed that only the life force energy of the late Captain Marvel could be used. To this end, Magik was forced to pluck a younger version of Captain Marvel from a different timeline, Earth-616. This spell cost the life of a friend of Magik named Amy, but Magik managed to hide the connection between her death and the spell to further trick Ove and the Enchantress into thinking it was all about Captain Marvel.[2]

When Captain Marvel found herself in 2052, she eventually arrived at New Atlantis, and encountered a group of survivors. Ove used Magik's power to send a horde of demons from Limbo after her, but they failed. Captain Marvel and her allies were eventually invited into New Atlantis, and welcomed with hospitality.[3] While sneaking around New Atlantis, Carol and her allies found Magik captive, but they were ultimately captured as well, in part due to the Enchantress controlling a horde of demons through Magik.[1] Ove and the Enchantress fought the heroes with Magik still under their control. During the fight, Ove and Amora briefly took control of The Wolf. Using her psychic abilities on Magik, they found out about her bluff. Realizing that the life force of any individual could power the spell, Enchantress sacrificed herself to finish the ritual, and successfully sent Ove to the past. Magik was liberated afterward. At her own request, Jessica Drew was used as the sacrifice for Magik to power a spell to return Captain Marvel to her time.[2]
