History

Imbalayo was a Kushite, and the general of the Kushite Cavalry.

As Stygia lacked men to sent to Asgalun, a city-state of Shem that they were attempted to control through the usurper King Nim-Karrak and were about to claim outright, they hired Imbalayo's mercenaries to act in their stead and quell the expected civil war that would ensue among the Shemite population in reaction to the annex.

When a squad of Black Corsairs led by M'Gora went to Asgalun to spy on Bêlit (daughter of the usurped king and niece to Nim-Karrak, they met with Imbalayo and his Kushite Cavalry. Imbalayo gave them a choice between being slain on the spot for their weapons, and join their cavalry.[2]

As Nim-Karrak fled the city, and the Stygians effectively took control, intending to slay Nim-Karrak's cousin and potential next-in-line Uriaz, the various factions engaged in a massive battle. The Black Corsairs disguised as Kushites targeted the Hyrkanians (mercenaries hired by Nim-Karrak), forcing them to join the Shemites. Imbalayo seeing that the Stygians were the losing side, ordered his troops to cease fighting with Shemites and Hyrkanians, and rather turn on the few remaining Stygians, leading to their immediate surrender.

Unwilling to rule, Bêlit immediately bestowed the crown upon Uriaz, reigniting riots between his supporters and exiled Akhîrom's, a brawl joined by the Hyrkanians and Kushites (while the Stygians, too few), while Akhîrom approached the city with an army.[3]

About three years later, the Hyrkanians of Mazdak were still a throat with Imbalayo's Kushite, with the Kushites attacking them in the streets at night.[1]
