"No thrones on Arrako"...and you end up worshipped as some of distaff King Arthur. Is that irony, or is that just subtext becoming text? Methinks the monarch protests too much...

Synopsis for "Part 11: A Hard Reign"

With several members of the Quiet Council having been confined in the Pit of Exile duo to their genetics being tampered with by Mr. Sinister, Storm has taken charge of efforts to ensure that they are not compromised.

Aided by Rasputin IV and Cypher, Storm has Cypher bring the compromised members up one by one so that Rasputin can physically and telepathically restrain them. They are brought to Forge, who had asked to head up the recovery project.

Using a machine of his own construction, Forge is able to purge the additions Sinister made to their genome. However, it has been decided that the compromised members will remain sidelined due to uncertainty that all of Sinister's additions had truly been excised for good.

While the compromised members are angry, Storm reveals the necessity of her actions by showing them the historical records of Moira VII.1, the timeline that resulted when Sinister's experiments on the Quiet Council were allowed to run free. The compromised members are shown what their counterparts did in this future, and accept the necessity of being robbed of their votes.

Storm and Xavier then confront Destiny over the fact that she knew about the Moira Engine yet did not tell the rest of the council. Destiny defends her actions as the only way to ensure that they could safely get rid of Sinister. Storm is not satisfied however, and continues to prod Destiny on why she allowed that particular timeline to continue.

Destiny suddenly declares that the meeting is over, as Hope and Exodus are fighting in the skies above Krakoa. In Moira VII.1, Exodus ultimately betrayed Hope and allowed her to die. Upon learning of this, Hope turns on Exodus and attacks him. Storm breaks up the fight, prompting Hope to block Exodus' powers and physically beat him out of sight of the crowds, before warning him to stay away from her.

Meanwhile, Mystique is visited by Mother Righteous, who delivers a recording from Moira VII.1 of Destiny offering an alliance with Sinister in order to manipulate the timelines to ensure Mystique does not die.

As Storm prepares to return to Arakko, she is confronted by Emma Frost, who questions why Storm believes she has any right to judge the rest of them. She points out that while she and the other compromised members were not themselves in the other timeline, Storm was, and still did not notice their corruption because she was busy on Arakko. She chastises Storm for leaving them even now, that her vote is more necessary than ever.

Meanwhile, Sebastian Shaw speaks to Mother Righteous, his secret partner. He tells her that he believes Krakoa is about to go down, and if it does, he wishes to own all of it. In exchange, Righteous gives him a series of motions she wishes him to pass in the Quiet Council.

A few days later, Storm returns to the council chambers. She has realized that there was truth in Emma's words. Since she is unable to be on Arakko and Krakoa at once, she meets with Colossus, asking him to wield her vote in proxy when she cannot attend Quiet Council meetings. Colossus agrees, with Storm unaware that he is under the control of his brother.
