Synopsis for "War of the Iron Men Part 3"
After realizing that Iron Man's mission in Transia is mostly self-serving, the woman that had been harboring him sells him out to Latveria. Doom's agent, Dreadknight, arrives at her farm to secure Iron Man's ship for his master. Stark, meanwhile, is a prisoner at the Zmaj camp where he's thrown into the engineering tent after his identity was revealed. He meets Dragana, the sole survivor of the Zmaj's experiment to torture captive scientists into remaking Iron Man weaponry. It turns out she is the one behind the the Svarog hologram and she's forced to play the role of her captors' hero and has nowhere to run since a landmine took her legs even before her captivity. Tony chides her for not resisting at first, but sees enough of himself in her that he agrees she should do what she has to do. With Dragana's help, Stark breaks free and grabs an incomplete Iron Men suit to escape the camp.
Stark doesn't get very far before Dreadknight finds him and shoots him out of the sky. Dreadknight decides he's going to kill his target instead of capturing him as ordered, but Stark maneuvers him onto a landmine to incapacitate him before stealing his lance and winged steed to continue on his way. Then, just to heat things up, he flies over the Chinese gas pipeline in the area and drops the armed lance, causing a massive explosion that sends the message to the east that it's time to send in their own super-agent, Radioactive Man.

- This story is set between Iron Man (Vol. 3) #50, the debut of the Model 20 "Tin Man" armor, and Iron Man (Vol. 3) #55, where Stark reveals his secret identity to the public. At this time Iron Man is operating under the cover story of being Tony Stark's bodyguard.
- At this time, Iron Man had recently faced Radioactive Man who had been hired as a bodyguard for Ty Stone in Iron Man (Vol. 3) #38. Chen Lu returned to being an agent of the Chinese government between then and his next major appearance joining the Thunderbolts in New Thunderbolts #3.
