History

The fifteenth Iron Man suit created by Tony Stark was a stealth suit nicknamed "Sneaky". It is virtually invisible to enemy early-warning systems. A chrome-colored coating on the armor can darken or lighten to match the environment.[1]

The Sneaky suit was among those summoned by Stark to battle Extremis-enhanced soldiers defending Aldrich Killian's plot. It was controlled at the time by Stark's A.I. program, J.A.R.V.I.S.. Tony wore this armor in order to escape the explosion caused by the Mark XLII's self-destruction, but the suit was heavily damaged, and fell to pieces as soon as Tony made a forced landing. It was notably the last Iron Man suit worn by Tony Stark before the remaining suits were destroyed.[2]

Trivia

  • Alongside the MK XXXVII (Hammerhead), this armor was originally conceived by artist Phil Saunders in 2007 as concept art for the first Iron Man film.[3] Their creation was requested by producer Avi Arad for the idea of an end scene introducing the Hall of Armor, featuring many variations of Iron Man to lean into the toy licensing potential of the character.[4]
  • Before making it to the third movie, the designs for Sneaky and Hammerhead were used by Hasbro in their Iron Man 2 Concept Art series of action figures released in 2010.[5]
