History

The thirty-seventh Iron Man suit created by Tony Stark was a Deep Sea Suit nicknamed "Hammerhead". It was designed to travel to the deepest parts of the ocean, being able to withstand extreme pressure; it has high-powered work-lights to allow visibility in murky waters.[1]

The Hammerhead suit was among those summoned by Stark to battle Extremis-enhanced soldiers assisting Aldrich Killian's plot. It was controlled at the time by J.A.R.V.I.S., Stark's A.I. program.

This armor was destroyed, either by Extremis soldiers or Stark's "Clean Slate" protocol, which blew up the remaining suits to symbolize to Pepper Potts that his creations would no longer be a distraction or a priority.[2]

Notes

  • This armor, along with the Stealth Armor, was originally created by artist Phil Saunders in 2007 as concept art for the first Iron Man film.[3] Before making it to the third movie, the designs for these two armors were used by Hasbro in their Iron Man 2 Concept Art series of action figures released in 2010.[4]
