Synopsis for "Mission Into Darkness"

Rhodes is in Greece after his exploits with the Eternals and learns of new work for him in Hong Kong after speaking with Morley Erwin. He arrives in Hong Kong and speaks with his prospective employer Winston Phlan who wants Iron Man to guard a shipment of film to mainland China, his last shipment having been ruined after being in proximity to a man with superhuman strength. He goes to the docks to scout things out where he encounters the Radioactive Man and fights with him briefly before experiencing an unbearable pain in his head.

Back in the U.S., Tony Stark has effectively reached bottom, still struggling with alcoholism and unable to withdraw money from the bank after efforts by Obadiah Stane to nullify any potential threat from him reclaiming his business. Rhodes discovers the identity of the Radioactive Man after another call to Morley Erwin but he’s unable to help him with the headaches he’s been experiencing.

Radioactive Man suspects Iron Man’s presence at the docks is a ploy to intercept a shipment and plans to kill him if necessary. They fight again when Radioactive Man attacks him. Rhodes is hesitant to be too aggressive fearing he could kill him but fears the amount of damage Radioactive Man is causing to his armor. He ultimately succeeds in knocking Radioactive Man and his cargo into the harbor.

Later, Rhodes relays the nature of the damage to the original film shipment from radioactivity and collects his payment. Rhodes is offended at an offer for booze due to the sensitivity of the situation with Tony’s addiction while back in the U.S., Tony Stark continues drinking in a rundown room with a similarly hopeless Gretl Anders.
