| Synopsis1 = While Iron Man battles Fin Fang Foom, back in Beijing, Stark wakes up in his hotel room and learns of Rhodes' departure; while he understands why his friend took his place, he prays that his choice will not get him killed. Li Wang calls to say that the Chinese authorities will uphold their end of the bargain, and Stark proceeds to the University of the Long March for his appointment with Dr. Su Yin. As Iron Man fights Fin Fang Foom, Mandarin observes, unhappy with letting another fight his battles. Chen Hsu telepathically contacts businessman Wu Pong, greeting him as an old friend he has not talked to in centuries, and telling him the time of the Abandoning is at hand. Iron Man finally defeats Fin Fang Foom, burying him beneath tons of falling rock. Dr. Su Yin examines Stark then meets with the President, telling him she doubts she can help Stark; he tells her to do whatever it takes to keep Stark in China until Iron Man deals with the Mandarin. Black Widow meets with former spy Alexi Alexivitch, who tells her he's sure "Oktober" has been long abandoned. She reminds him that Oktober was programmed to infiltrate and sabotage the American defense network, causing World War III, and she can't take the chance he has been triggered. Back in China, Fin Fang Foom awakes, digs himself out of the rubble, and pummels Iron Man unconscious.
