Synopsis for "Believe 1 of 5: Demons and Genies"
Iron Man flies above the city, thinking about what he believes and does not believe in. Later he chats up a blonde at a night club, and lots of exposition follows. Meanwhile, in Argentina, a ragged Maya Hansen escapes from a sewage drain and grabs a cellphone from a woman nearby. She manages to send a pre-recorded message before an Extremis-enhanced A.I.M. goon arrives and fries her.
Tony has brought the blonde home, but has to send her home, as he receives the message from Maya - that she is probably dead, and that Extremis is loose. Twenty minutes later, he discusses the situation with Pepper (with more exposition) - Maya has been kidnapped and forced to recreate Extremis.
Sixteen hours later, Tony has used his contacts to make it into the exclusive A.I.M. auction. He attempts to hack into the systems locally, but his viral upload is detected. Confronted by a security check-up, his briefcase proves full of a metallic liquid that quickly forms his new suit around him. The three Extremis-powered A.I.M. agents attack him, with the typical super strength and fire breathing of the standard. Iron Man finds it unimaginative - Extremis will be much more dangerous in the hands of someone with vision. He takes out the goons with an armor-piercing taser set to the right frequency - a solution he found so he would not be forced to kill someone like Mallen again.
Under threats, the A.I.M. leader reveals he has sold four Extremis kits already, and this is consistent with Iron Man's findings. Iron Man promises to Maya he'll "put her demons back in the bottle".
