—Iron ManWe can't free the world from Doom just to go back to the status quo. A status quo people like me couldn't see failed people like Ramon. If that's ever gonna change, people like me have to get on board. If we don't want to be pushed out of the way. It's not a sacrifice if it comes easy.

Synopsis for "The Insurgent Iron Man - Part Three: The Deadly Rhythm of the Production Line"
In Iraqi Kurdistan, Commander Hunyadi and the Latverian Patriotic Front meet with Melinda May at the Erbil International Hotel to discuss Tony Stark's patronage. As May relays Hunyadi's request for enhanced phone encryption to Tony, their meeting is interrupted when the Winter Guard crashes through the skylight.
At the West Coast Avengers HQ in Los Angeles, Tony is shooting hoops with Vishte Taru. Heading to the locker room, Vishte reveals that the LPF wanted him dead for studying the mystic arts to defeat Doctor Doom, something Hunyadi disapproved as a tool of Doom. He acknowledges that he has far to go, but levitates the water from the showers to demonstrate his power. After getting dressed, Tony reads May's message about the encryption and tasks Vishte with it, telling him to take the opportunity to spy on the LPF's messages. As they depart, Iron.GPT notifies Tony of a strike at the Upstate New York artillery factory. Needing to demonstrate his company's full production capacity for Doom before finalizing the contract, Tony suits up and flies off with Vishte to defuse the situation.
At the factory, picketers are confronted by Stark Unlimited's new private security detail, the S.T.R.I.K.E.B.R.E.A.K.E.R.S., who violently suppress the protest and trade blows with its leader, Ramon Vicente. Tony arrives and blasts the 'B.R.E.A.K.E.R.S.'s first sergeant, expressing disbelief at the kind of people May has hired. He escorts Ramon to a break room inside, where he dematerializes his armor to talk. Ramon scolds Tony for not following trough with the contract after recognizing the union, something Tony neglected due to the recent chain of events in his life. Vicente is not satisfied when Tony tells him to consider the contract ratified, prompting Stark to argue for the big picture need for the factory, and even suggests automating the factory. After Ramon reveals that the union's fund received hefty donations, Tony rushes outside armored up. He spots the Black Widow disguised as an old woman in Midwood, Brooklyn and chases her into a rooftop as she sheds off her costume. She admonishes Tony for lying to her and warns him that his choices will endangering innocents. She admits to funding the union and urges Tony to ask himself why his employees were so ready to strike before leaving with the threat to bring the Avengers with her next time.
Tony returns to the factory break room, dematerializing his armor. Vishte relays Ramon's demand for a seat on the Stark Unlimited Board of Directors in exchange for restarting operations. Tony is caught off guard but ultimately offers three seats instead, much to the astonishment of both Ramon and Vishte, and they shake on it. As Iron Man and Vishte fly off, Stark explains his reasoning for sharing control of the board. He expresses that the world can't be freed from Doom's rule just to fall back into the same status quo that had failed people like Ramon. When Iron.GPT notifies Tony of a ransom video from the Winter Guard, he reroutes to Iraq. Vishte mutters to himself that Tony is a real hero, and vows to save him.
Solicit Synopsis
BY ANY MEANS OF PRODUCTION NECESSARY!
Back in the weapons business, Iron Man will cross line after line to stop Emperor Doom — but the Black Widow is just as determined to save her friend from himself! Can Tony thwart the super-spy supreme before she throws a wrench into his machine? It’s worker versus CEO as "The Insurgent Iron Man" escalates!Notes
- When talking in the locker room with Tony Stark, Vishte Taru mentions his intent to cage Doctor Doom "with his evil mother." He is alluding to Cynthia von Doom, Doom's mother, who was a witch that lost her soul to Mephisto.
- Ramon Vicente and the Upsate New York facility where he works were first introduced in issue #1. He and Tony recall the capital strike enforced by the Roxxon B.E.R.S.E.R.K.E.R.s that Stark iterrupted as well as having recognized Ramon's union, which also happened in issue #1.
- When he explains his reasons for neglecting following through the union recognition with a contract, Tony mentions being in the hospital, almost losing his company, attending to something in Chicago, and Doom taking over the world. These events happened in issue #1, #3, #4 and One World Under Doom #1, respectively.
Trivia
- This issue's story is named after the song "The Deadly Rhythm" by the Swedish hardcore punk band Refused.
- Writer Spencer Ackerman's use of basketball as a means for Tony Stark and Vishte Taru to bond while shooting hoops was inspired by his realization that this issue was going to come out in the thick of the NBA playoffs, which run from April—June.[1]
- During their basketball game, Vishte jokes about racing horses with "Jokić's brother." He is referring to the Serbian professional basketball player Nikola Jokić. Tony also exlcaims "Kobe!," a reference to the meme of invoking the late basketball player Kobe Bryant when shooting a hoop.
- When alerting Tony of the factory strike in Upstate New York, Iron.GPT suggests setting the footage to the instrumentals of "The Power" by Snap!. It later plays the song unprompted when showing Tony the Winter Guard's ransom video.
- The panel of Iron Man walking into the Stark Unlimited break room purposefully evokes an infamous 2016 photograph of then-presidential candidate Hillary Clinton walking into a working-class kitchen in Harlem, as it can be seen here.
- One of the storefronts in the establishing shot of Midwood is written in Cyrillic. It reads "Дом Книги Санкт-Петербург" ("House of Books Saint Petersburg").
