Synopsis for "The Insurgent Iron Man - Part Four: Great-Power Competition"
In Manhattan, Iron Man leaves Vishte Taru at the Stark Tower to rescue Melinda May from the Winter Guard. Vishte performs a ritual to travel to Limbo to pay tribute to Belasco. As he does this, a flashback reveals his past: As a child, a confused Vishte reunites with his parents in a plane from Symkaria to Latveria. They explain to him that his real name is Artem, and that they are spies being returned to their homeland in a prisoner exchange. Upon arrival, they are greeted by Doctor Doom and the Latverian Army. Vishte's parents are escorted away by Commander Hunyadi, then known as General Lokor. Doom consoles the boy and asks if his name is Artem. When Vishte hesitantly accepts the name given to him, Doom expresses disdain, warning him that a true Latverian would remain true to themselves, since "Vishte Taru" is the only name that Artem ever knew for himself.
In present-day Azerbaijan, the Winter Guard are holding May hostage in a safe house. The Red Widow has entinced Hunyadi to Russia's side, and they share a toast to their potential alliance. May tries to sow doubt in him, highlighting Stark's superior technology, but the Widow assures him of the Winter Guard's support. As Vanguard is sent to fetch food, the Black Widow and the Winter Soldier watch from the rooftop. Bucky ambushes Vanguard while Natasha crashes through a window, quickly kicking a groggy Ursa Major unconscious. Relishing on finally encountering her Red Room predecessor, the Red Widow trades blows and jabs with Natasha while Bucky kicks through the door, knocking out Dimitri Bukharin before he can put on his Crimson Dynamo Armor. Disturbed after recieving a call, Hunyadi halts the fight to share footage from Latveria. Several explosions have struck the nation, secretly caused by a soldier's phone infecting him with a black mist that propagrated imperceptibly among the locals. As the room processes the horror, Ursa Major wakes up and lashes out at the Black Widow. He's knocked out cold again, this time by the Winter Soldier in the Crimson Dynamo Armor. Bucky joins Natashas' fight with the Red Widow, but all three are knocked down by an explosion.
Iron Man has arrived, flanked by Victorious and Vishte. The Latverian envoy confronts the Winter Guard over their collusion with Hunyadi, revealing that Iron Man tipped her off and she was skeptical until she interpreted the attack to Latveria as proof of it. The Red Widow tries to dispel the claims, but May is quick to back them up, prompting her to grab Hunyadi and flee. Iron Man and the Winter Soldier give chase as Bucky clarifies that it's him in the Crimson Dynamo Armor. Stark lets Bucky take the lead so he can record the Crimson Dynamo taking down the Red Widow to paint her as a rogue agent and spare Russia of Doom's wrath. Tony doffes his Iron Monger add-ons and attaches them to the Crimson Dynamo Armor for a power-up. Bucky overpowers the Red Widow but briefly succumbs to a violent rage until Tony reclaims the add-ons. Meanwhile, a vengeful Vishte intercepts Hunyadi in an alley. When the group regathers, Vishte tosses Hunyadi's severed head to Victorious. She acknowledges the oddly convenient nature of Iron Man's service, but leaves with the captive Winter Guard in tow, satisfied that Doom has someone to blame for the attacks.
Shaken, Tony breaks down over the massacre. Natasha and Bucky confront him, but Stark insists he only called Victorious after May's kidnapping to turn the situation around and end the LPF without sending them to war with Doom, denying any link to the explosions. Bucky presses Tony about the Iron Monger add-ons' corruptive effect, and Vishte confirms Tony was unaware of its magical taint taking effect. Stark admits that he resorted to the Iron Monger Armor out of desperation to enhance his Improvised Armor, hoping that he could manage its corruption if he only wore pieces of it. Vishte magically draws out the remaining infection out of Tony and forges it into an armor for himself. He vows to save Tony from ever becoming an arms dealer again while at the same time rescuing the world from Doom. He then indicates that he orchestrated the massacre—believing, like Tony once said, that Doom cannot be overthrown innocently.
