History
Origin[]
Issus or Isuus was one of the Elder Gods of Earth,[4][2][5][3][6] and the sister of Father Set.[1]
Her fate during the degeneration of the Elder Gods into demons and their slaughter by the Demogorge remains unknown.
Hyborian Age[]
During the Hyborian Age, the goddess Issus was worshiped by Nitocris, queen of Stygia.
Several hundred years later, during the Age of Conan, King Ctesphon III (Neftha)'s body remained in the Temple of Issus. Issus' name was invoked by Stornella in the spell to resurrect Ctesphon and have her mind hurled into the Outer Darkness while Stornella's mind would inhabit Ctesphon's body.[1]Notes
- Issus, sister of Set, was presumably created as a reference to Isis, Seth's sister in the Egyptian Mythology.
- This character's name is spelled "Issus" in Savage Sword of Conan #216, in the demons' profiles from the Marvel Zombies: The Book of Angels, Demons & Various Monstrosities #1 and Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe A to Z #3, and at the Appendix to the Handbook of the Marvel Universe, but is spelled "Isuus" in Gaea's profile from the Thor & Hercules: Encyclopaedia Mythologica #1, and in Set's profile from the Marvel Zombies: The Book of Angels, Demons & Various Monstrosities.
