Origin and early years

In Aztec legend, Itzpapalotl was one of the Tzitzimime, demons from the stars, who stood for purification or rejuvenation through the sacrifice of that which is precious.

A legend stated that other Gods imprisoned her in a tomb in the Aztec city of Tenochtitlan (located in modern days under the The Zócalo in Mexico City), and was held prisoner using the Jade Mask.[1]

Modern days

In modern days, an earthquake caused by Diablo (in his quest of the Masks of Death) to unearth the tomb opened it, dislodged the jade mask and awoke Itzpapalotl, and she returned to the surface for the time of purification, demanding blood sacrifice.

Spider-Man, helped by Parker Industries Mexico archaeologist Veronica Diaz, was able to bound Itzpapaloth back.

As Parker promised to go back underground to preserve the site, Diablo replaced the Jade Mask with replica alchemically treated to keep Itzpapalotl inert.[1]

Equipment

The Jade Mask used held Itzpapalotl prisoner in her tomb. It was replaced by a replica alchemically treated to keep her inert.[1]
