History
Ivan Vanko was a vindictive Russian inventor who designed a battlesuit, the Crimson Dynamo Armor, based on technology stolen from Tony Stark. As Iron Man, Stark crossed paths with the Crimson Dynamo several times. Vanko became obsessed with destroying Iron Man, whereas Stark was determined to bring Vanko down to stop the misuse of his technology. Early during his career, Vanko was recruited by the Winter Guard and designed the Titanium Man Armor for them. His tenure with the team was short-lived as he quickly went rogue.
Iron Man would eventually manage to defeat Vanko,[3] and had him imprisoned at the Vault.[4] When Vanko escaped along other super villains, Iron Man tracked him down to Switzerland alongside the Avengers. The heroes briefly clashed with the Winter Guard when the Russian team intercepted them to bring their former recruit to justice, and Crimson Dynamo escaped after breaching Titanium Man's suit and almost causing him to explode. Vanko fled to Germany, where he was approached by Baron Zemo to join his Masters of Evil to battle the Avengers.[5]
He's one of the Masters of Evil who tried to get one of the Norn Stones in Baron Zemo's plan to conquer the World, what they didn't know is that Loki was using them in his revenge against Asgard, Thor and Odin. Dynamo battles Captain America but was defeated when he was distracted with ghosts from Hel, during the Norn Stones interaction, which latter brought the Avengers to the Nine Realms.[6]
When Enchantress was searching for Baron Zemo to get revenge, Ivan was sent to distract her while the remaining Masters asked with Zemo for help to the Avengers. He was saved by Iron Man and Hawkeye when he was loosing the battle against Enchantress and the Executioner. He later joined the other Avengers in Avengers Mansion to face Enchantress again. Just when they had Amora trapped, Zemo commanded Ivan and the other Masters of Evil to destroy the Avengers. When the last Norn Stone was destroyed by Wonder Man in an act of sacrifice, Ivan was knocked out and incarcerated in the Prison 42 along the rest of his team.[7]Paraphernalia
