History
Jade Jackson was at a bank when trying to get singles for her mother when it was taken over by bank robbers. Jade attempted to stop the robbers with her wind powers but froze when held at gunpoint. Scorpion arrived at the bank by the orders of Agent Julia Gao and Jade teamed up with him to defeat the robbers. Afterwards, Gao ordered the NYPD to arrest Jade along with the robbers for breaking the Powers Act, over Jade's protests and those of the hostages and bystanders who claimed Jade did nothing wrong.[2]
Presumably in exchange for a reduced sentence, Jade was recruited into the Cape Killers and given the codename Gust. During the Gang War, she accompanied the team in apprehending Spider-Man and the Daughters of the Dragon in Brooklyn for violating the Act, despite the heroes ending a destructive turf war between Frost Pharaoh and Bumbler.[3] Due to her inexperience and reluctance to carry through with her orders, Jade accidentally revealed her real name when asked by Spider-Man[3] and attacked her own teammates with her powers during the subsequent confrontation with the heroes. After the Daughters were taken into custody, Jade apologized to Spider-Man. When the Cape Killers next battled the Enforcers, Scorpion helped walked Jade through with using her powers and they were able to defeat the Enforcers together.[1]
After the Gang War ended, Gust and the Cape Killers arrested the Snatcher and his goons although she struggled against the Snatcher due his psionic abilities being stronger against younger targets. With the Anti-Powers Act being repealed as a result of the Gang War, Mayor Cage planned to disbanded the Cape Killers, which meant Jade could be returned back to her mother. However, before the repeal could be made official, Gao wanted to make one last attempt to arrest Spider-Man and equipped herself and the Cape Killers with enhanced suits provided by Rabble. In their subsequent confrontation, Spider-Man unleashed his full power while Gust resisted fighting him, Gao overrode Gust's suit to attack Spider-Man while enhancing her powers. When Spider-Man's allies arrived, Gust attacked Starling while apologizing and while the Prowler promised to pull his punches but nonetheless threw her against a pillar. Rabble eventually took control of the Cape Killers in order to provoke Spider-Man into fighting her.[4] Gust was eventually freed from Rabble's control after she was defeated by Spider-Man and had her injuries treated by arriving paramedics. With Gao missing and the deadline passed, Mayor Cage disbanded the Cape Killers, presumably freeing Gust from imprisonment.[5]Attributes
