History

James Martin was a child living in San Francisco when Terrax the Tamer battled the Superior Spider-Man and the Night Shift. During the conflict, James' mother was killed, which he learned from Spider-Man in the aftermath of the battle.

After this, Spider-Man began to regularly visit James, growing fond of him; however, after Otto's villainous past was revealed to the world, he was no longer permitted to see James. Talking with him one last time, James asked Otto why he lied to him, with Otto admitting that he wanted James to like him. After this they shared a tearful hug.

James was later captured by the Spider-Man from an alternate reality and used as leverage to make Otto kill innocent people; though he was ultimately rescued by Otto who had had Mephisto magically restore his Doctor Octopus persona.
