James Xavier was a doctor who lived in Victorian England and was slightly skeptic of the theories of a scientist named Charles Darwin about evolution and natural selection. He frequently debated these theories with another doctor named Nathaniel Essex, who is obsessed with Darwin's theories. Essex's obcession with the theories leads him into becoming the villain known as Mr. Sinister.
James Xavier was a close friend to brilliant scientist Dr Nathaniel Essex. Dr Xavier was also the physician of his wife Rebecca Essex.
