History

Jamila was a descendant of Algerian royalty. She married the Monégasque businessman Cartier St. Croix, and together they had four children: their firstborn son Marius, their eldest daughter Monet, who quickly became Cartier's favorite child, and the twins Claudette and Nicole, who became Jamila's favorite children. When Marius's mutant powers first manifested, she was present, and tried to help him. He was overcome by his new hunger however, and ended up killing her.

Notes

• Jamilla was a Muslim and tried to impart her faith to her children, despite her husband's disapproval. At least one of her children, Monet, considered herself a Muslim in adulthood.
• It is possible that Jamila, like her children, was a mutant. This is suggested by the fact that her son Marius, who only feeds on the marrow of mutants, fed on her when his powers manifested.
