When the Hatros Institute put a major facility in town, supposedly for stress treatment, Wainright, like many of the locals, made an appointment and was very pleased with the concerned professionals there, however. observe that they were conditioning his mind and isolating the town.[1]
When photographer Peter Parker visited Shriver Cove to promote his book Webs, Wainright was his guide and urged Parker to dismiss some people's displays of aggression. Instead, he showed Parker the town's powerful TV transmitter and the Hatros Institute, mentioning that he had never seen the owner in person.[1]
The owner of the Hatros Institute turned out to be the supervillain Nekra, who hoped to isolate the town and take control over the entire population, but her plan was thwarted by Spider-Man (secretly Parker ) and by biochemist Dr. Henry Pym, who reversed the process.[1]Trivia
