Jewel was one of the many Hulks who deserted the Hulk Gang at some point for being mistreated by their leader, Pappy Banner. After Logan killed Pappy and most of the Hulk Gang members, Jewel and the other remaining Hulks were recruited by the Maestro, an alternate dimension version of Pappy, to build a paradise for themselves in Earth-616.[1]
