Professor Gibbs was a mercenary who went on an expedition with Edward Elmgren (the expedition's leader) and Professor Gibbs. They returned with a drug that would shrink whole human bodies. Both Gibbs and Barney secretly wanted the drug. Both later returned to steal the drug, alongside some thugs and friends, to which Dr. Crime shrunk them and used them as his guinea pigs. After a wild goose chase and a massive brawl, Captain America and Bucky captured Dr. Crime, revealing him to be none other than the expedition's leader Edward Elmgren. Barney was returned to his normal size as the drug wore off.[1]
