John Fernandez was a newsman who had worked in many dangerous places and situations, including four tours of Bosnia, three to Afghanistan and eight or nine to Baghdad with CNN. He won an Emmy nomination for his piece on the U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln before going to work on the New Warriors' reality TV show. He was present in Stamford, Connecticut when the warriors attempted to apprehend Nitro and others, when Nitro exploded himself and devastated much of Stamford, Fernandez was killed. After his death his funeral was attended by many of his close friends and fellow reporters including Robbie Robertson, who read a eulogy for him, as well as Phil Urich and Sally Floyd.[2][1]
