He was a friend and associate of Wyatt Earp. Presumably, the history of Doc Holliday on Earth-616 mirrors that of his real world counterpart. Some events are are unique to the Earth-616 universe, and therea are differences with the chronology of his the real life counterpart.
He was born in August 14, 1851 on Griffin, Georgia and earned a degree in dentistry at age 20.
Heading to the West[]
J.H. Holliday was a frail and sickly man who had a peaceful life as dentist in Dallas, Texas. Suddenly, he turned to gambling and he killed a man over a game of cards.[1]
He was told by his doctor to move out west for the warm climate and sunshine in order to try and combat his consumption (Tuberculosis). The doctors believed that this move might even extend his life by a couple of years. Doc listened and went out west. [3]
In one of his first travels, Doc arrived to Timberlane,Texas where he was robbed by the Jooks brothers, and lost his money and rifle.Since that there wasn't sheriff in Timberlane and the Jooks controlled the town, Doc decided to take matters in his owns hands. He bought a gun, learned to shoot in six months and proposed himself to be the town sheriff. He had a quick showdown with the Jook brothers, outgunned and captured them. Then Doc retired from the town to go west to improve his health.[4][5]
Meeting with the Rawhide Kid[]
Then,as Doc Holliday was going to Yonder Town, he met the Rawhide Kid, who saved Doc Holliday's life twice, once from an Apache war party which had chased Doc across the plains, and again from Ox Carson's gang in the next town. Doc seemed rather ungrateful for the assistance, however, and the Kid soon learned that Doc was more than capable of defending himself, with an aim and draw every bit as good as the Kid himself. The duo soon developed a reputation of awe and fear, having done themselves what the entire town had failed to do. As a result of this, and of Doc's lack of fear of death, already doomed to die in the foreseeable future anyway, he became increasingly ruthless and menacing with the townsfolk.
Holliday decided that he would rob a large shipment of money that had come through town and was being kept at the express office, and would marry Julie Welles, a local naive girl who had fallen for his bravado, in order to please himself during his final days. The robbery was interrupted by Frank, a young store clerk who was in love with Jullie and challenged Holliday to a draw. The Rawhide Kid arrived just in time to save Frank's life and faced Holliday himself. Doc actually outdrew the Kid but had a coughing fit because of his tuberculosis just as he fired and only grazed the Kid. Rawhide then shot the gun out of Holliday's hand. There was no sheriff in the town, and Doc Holliday only left the town.[3]
Tombstone[]
In his travels, Doc met and befriended Wyatt Earp.Wyatt save his life in Dodge City. [6] Years later, he arrived to the town Tombstone, demanding to Talk with Wyatt, now sheriff of Tombstone. Both seemed prepared to draw their guns against each other. Wyatt hit Doc to stopped an ambush by a third shooter. Both discovered that Ben Crafton was the shooter, who said that he was trying to help Wyatt. Doc left his gun to Wyatt and installed himself in the town, not causing trouble for a few days. Then he asked Wyatt for his gun and left town. A banks was robbed and the entire town believed that Doc was the culprit, but Wyatt didn't believe it and examining the bulleft left crime scene, he deduct the real shooter, Ben Crafton.[7]
Later Doc Holliday returned and became the coldest-blooded killer on the town of Tombstone, but he also sided with the law and his friend Wyatt Earp, being known as a "good badman" in the town. [1] He help the Morgan brothers in the famous gunfight in the OK Corral, on October 26, 1881.[6]
Later, Doc Holliday joined Rawhide Kid and other Western heroes in a adventure to rescue the brothers Wyatt and Morgan Earp. He had a brief relationship with Annie Oakley.[2]
Later days[]
His disease continued to advance and one month before his death, Doc Holliday confronted the outlaw "Blaster" Boone, who had terrorized a town in southern Arizona. Despite that terrible advance of his tuberculosis, "Doc" quickly ended the outlaw in a gun duel. [8]
He died of Tuberculosis, with his boots off and his last words were :"This is funny!"[1] Unlike his real world counterpart, Doc Holliday died two years earlier, in 1885.[8]Attributes
