History

J. Jonah Jameson, known as El Señor Jameson on Earth-TRN911, is the owner and publisher of the newspaper Clarín, that universe's version of Daily Bugle.[1] With their offices in New York City, Clarín reports both national and international news.[2] Due to this, Jameson was wealthy.[3]

Again like his Earth-616 counterpart, Jameson is biased against Spider-Man, known in his world as el Hombre Araña.[3][4] Jameson is unaware that el Hombre Araña is really Peter Parker, a photographer who sells the Clarín photographs of the hero.[3] Jameson insists that el Hombre Araña is really a criminal.[4] At some point, Parker introduced Jameson to Gwen Stacy, Parker's girlfriend.[1]

At one point, el Hombre Araña was captured by the supervillainess Satánica, while the city was being raided by the so-called "destroying giants". At the offices, Jameson complained to one of his trusted employees, Robertson, that Parker had failed to provide photos of the newsworthy event, and that el Hombre Araña was missing when his help was needed. Jameson asked Robertson to write an article on this subject.[3]

Later, the city suffered a wave of heists by organized gangs leader by the Satánicas. Jameson approached a police agent and demanded that the police chased el Hombre Araña, who was in his opinion surely involved. The policeman disregarded Jameson, who then went to the offices of the Clarín and ordered Robertson to write a series of articles with false information on how el Hombre Araña was the protector of the Satánicas. Even knowing that this would harm the reputation of the Clarín, Robertson agreed to do it.[5]

When Productores Unidos began filming a movie about el Hombre Araña, starring el Hombre Araña himself, Jameson sent Parker to take photos of the set (something that Parker had hoped for, so as to have an excuse to go there). As Parker's photos were delayed, Jameson flied into a rage through the building and threatened to fire Parker.[6]

Later, Jameson met an aged sailor man who offered to sell him a treasure map. Jameson agreed and exchange cash for the dcoument at an old abandoned dock in a discreet meeting. Per the map, gold lingots were stored at the center of the mysterious, dangerous island, marked with a skull-shaped rock. The sailor warned Jameson that primitive men lived in the island, worshipping a downed WW2 German bomber. Jameson then chartered a boat and decided to recruit Robertson and Parker to help him. To do this, Jameson phoned Robertson, then reprimanded Robertson because the later had failed to notice his boss leaving the premises. Jameson then arranged a meeting with Robertson and Parker the next morning, not telling the reason. Parker insisted in bringing Stacy, as they had a date. During the meeting, Jameson ordered Robertson, Parker and even Stacy to join him for an urgent sea trip, with the excuse of a photographic report; Jameson offered to pay Stacy's expenses and give her some journalism experience. In the boat, Jameson secretly warned the captain to not tell any details to the Clarín employees, and indeed they did; at the same time, Jameson disregarded warnings by the captain. After two days sailing, the boat reached the island, and journalists and crew reached the shore in a launch. Jameson showed them the map and explained its background. The locals, cavemen-like men, found the party, but they pretended to be scared of them and they took them to an abandoned city, being attentive and offering gifts. The cavemen then threatened Jameson and his people with spears. They then took Stacy to be sacrificed to a colossal cavemen.[1] Nonetheless, Stacy was saved and she returned to New York City along with Jameson, Robertson and Parker.

After several prominent airplane crashes, Jameson demanded an involving feature on those. Parker suggested that the Clarín paid a reporter a plane ticket for the same plane prominent Brohoober was taking so that they'd be close in case something happened - but only Parker volunteered for this. Jameson accused the other employees in the room (Betty Brant, Ned Leeds and Joseph Robertson) and the others of being afraid. The plane was indeed hijacked and el Hombre Araña (secretly Parker) rescued Brohoober (and purportedly also rescued Parker), apprehending the air criminals. Jameson knew of this immediately and, when Parker came to see him, he claimed to be skeptic. Parker then showed Jameson some exclusive photos of the event, and Jameson eagerly offered to pay him *half* their value - because Jameson had to pay his plane ticket too.[7]

Jameson and Parker find themselves embroiled in a dangerous business when a repentant drug dealer and former Mafia member, walked into his office to give him a letter. The Mafia had killed the son of that criminal, and he intended to expose them with a detailed note for the FBI; but he only dared trust a reputable journalist like Jameson. Jameson intended to break the news before the police knew the details - however, before he could put the letter in his safe, he was visited by Senator Roger Steves, who pretended to have entered to throw off some criminals who were following him. They all heard a shootout, in which the Mafia possibly killed the repentant drug trafficker; and Steves withdrew, ignoring Jameson's warnings. Jameson, distrusting Steves, summoned Parker and Brant to instruct them to take the envelope together to the FBI the next day, with Parker keeping it at his house in the meantime; Jameson feared that the Mafia might try to steal his safe. He was right: The next day, Jameson saw that his office had been searched. Parker kept the envelope at his house, at Jameson's request, awaiting further instructions - but Parker was kidnapped by the Mafia soon afterward. Meanwhile, Jameson was then visited by a lawyer, Matthew Murdock, who wanted the envelope back, claiming it belonged to Murdock's client. Jameson, even more wary and fearing that Murdock was another Mafioso, falsely said that the envelope was already in the hands of the FBI, thus scaring off the lawyer. Murdock was actually the superhero Diabólico, who tracked the envelope to Parker's house and followed the lead to stop the gang of mafiosi drug dealers led by Steves, turning them over to the police and rescuing Parker in the process. Jameson, discovering what happened, drove by in his car through the area and reproached Parker for his decisions because now all the newspapers would discover what happened at the same time, depriving Clarín of any advantage. Jameson claimed to fire Parker, and was really upset that he didn't get any photos; however, Jameson was secretly relieved that he and Parker were no longer Mafia targets.[8]

Jameson took a holiday and the day he returned, he found that criminal Hidra had unleashed a wave of crimes on the city, something that every newspaper but his had published on the front page. Typically enraged, he sent Parker for photos - then Hidra herself visited Jameson's office in person. Hidra, who wanted revenge against el Hombre Araña asked Jameson to publish a note in his newspaper to summon her enemy; and Jameson agreed to do it in a mid-day edition. Reading this, Parker (who pretended to be a personal friend of el Hombre Araña) asked Jameson for more information on Hidra and her note, but Jameson only repeated what had been published.[9]

Later, a criminal impersonated el Hombre Araña to rob several banks. Jameson happily thought his opinion had been proved, and told Robertson so. Soon, the real Hombre Araña stopped and unmasked the impostor; and afterward Peter Parker told his girlfriend that Jameson was probably upset at this result.[4]

Notes

  • Peter Parker obviously knows Jameson being a miser - but that seems to be public knowledge. El Hombre Araña, who does not need to know Jameson professionally, compared a producer from Productores Unidos with Jameson, when the producer found a loophole to not pay el Hombre Araña ("You must be Jameson's family!").[6]
  • On Earth-TRN911, Peter Parker dreamed that he was marrying Gwen Stacy. In the dream, Jameson was among the wedding guests.[10]
